Gumnut Park, Sinagra: why we keep coming back

Gumnut Park was everywhere when it first opened… but after visiting again and again, we’re still coming back.
Our experience
And I think that says a lot.
There’s just so much variety here. Rocks, logs, rope climbs, three towers, net bridges, swings, slides, a flying fox, basketball hoop and plenty of grass to run and play.
Kai usually makes a beeline for the towers. He loves making his way across the enclosed net bridges, scaling the slopes using the ropes and, of course, doing the slides on repeat. The flying fox is another firm favourite.
But what I really like is that we never seem to use just the big equipment. There are so many different ways to move, climb, balance and play that even after multiple visits, there’s still plenty to keep him interested.
And although some of the bigger climbing features bring plenty of challenge, we regularly see younger children happily enjoying the carousel, swings, flying fox, nature-play elements and lower-level slides too.
A few things we’ve learnt after coming back again and again:
One important thing to know: the giant tunnel slide has signage recommending users be over 1.2 m, with an ability filter at the access point.
For us, Gumnut Park has become one of those easy local options we know will deliver a good play — and I love that after all these visits, Kai still seems to find a different way to use the space each time.
Such a welcome addition to Perth’s northern suburbs.

Save this one for your next park day — and don’t forget the ball.
Details
- Bring a ball. There’s a basketball hoop, four square and plenty of grass for kicking one around.
- We usually stay 1–2 hours, but you could easily pack a picnic and stay longer.
- There are pathways for scooters, while the gravel loop is better suited to bikes.
- You’ll find BBQs, seating, shade and water fountains.
- Parking immediately around the park is limited.
- There are no toilets at the playground, so plan ahead.
